Theses two images are taken from one of the issues from the magazines, Empire. One theme that runs through this magazine is the tones of colours on the images. the font page
has the green and greyish blue which follows onto the contents page in the way that the main actor, Chris Pratt, is waring the same sort of combination of colours.
Other common themes and genre conventions are the fact that the cover of these entertainment magazines are bold and they do seem to stand out from the rest of the image.

Hearst are mostly know for publishing lifestyle types of magazines. That includes magazines that surround themselves around the topic of fitness and health. They might have a couple fashion magazines alongside but the majority is health and lifestyle. The only entertainment brand on Hearst's website is an online website called Digital Spy. this would be the closest to what I am going to make.
Values & Ideologies
There is a gap in the entertainment magazine are for Hearst as a publication. An area that is quite void on the Hearst's branding website page is the entertainment style of magazines. The values and ideologies of Hearst as a publishing website is stated to all be about the magazine company's they hold host to. Some of which are more to do with fashion whilst some are to do with health and lifestyle, however there is a gap in the market for an entertainment magazine. The closest thing Hearst has to an entertainment magazine is the website DigitalSpy. This is an online platform when consumers are greeted with the way that the things are

Magazine Values
It will be based for a fun-loving audience and so I think it should share those same traits. I think the magazine should be something light and colourful and also something that doesn't take itself to seriously. I would be represented as quite an artsy magazine, lots of design elements mixed in with the photography. I want it to be very stylised. The content would be a variety of entertainment including film, music, TV, and books.
|The ways that magazine values are portayed are in the same ways that the magazine =s can be intupritated and the ways in which the design aspects of the magazine as a whole however I think that the why andhow that the where is the endproduct of the magazine ways and finding out why is what the mwthords of the linked to the ways in which they appeal to their repective audiences. Some of the other things that stand out to me are things like the way in which magazine companies convey certain aspects of their creativity and design

Good research so far. Where is the second analysis group? (Make sure you analyse one website for a magazine also analysed)
ReplyDeleteWEBSITE: Good logo and general design and layout. Think about adding a tagline. Linked page (Music) is there with an article but no image- tweak the ranking order and use sub heads. Homepage has good, appropriate text content and some images - make sure there is a variety.
ReplyDeleteTO IMPROVE: IMAGES & VIDEO needed! Think about appealing to that 'fun-loving' audience.
